Department of Labour to improve Pacific Division immigration service
22 April 2008
The Department of Labour is aiming to improve the service provided by its Pacific Division.
The Department is planning a comprehensive review of the Division to identify areas where it could improve and develop the services it provides to Pacific migrants.
Chief Executive Christopher Blake says he has been familiarising himself with the Department’s activities since taking up the chief executive’s position in late October 2007 and believes the Division has had significant achievements since its formation in January 2005.
“The Division has been particularly successful in building the Department’s relations with Pacific people and employers.
“However, we know that we can build on the good work that has already been done, and develop our services.
“The Division has a high profile within the community. I want to ensure our immigration work achieves its full potential and that the Department continues to effectively manage its responsibilities to the Pacific.”
The review will begin this month.
